This is the first time my Husky had seen a Deer…she just sat and stared at it, think the fact it didn’t run away confused her, either that or she was contemplating whether to have it with Cumberland Sauce or not !
Just then a loud noise in the distance distracted them – you can see them both staring intently towards the source.

Beautiful capture! I am surprised she did not chase after the deer.
I think it was because firstly it wasn’t running itself…that action normally would have triggered the start of a chase. But also the fact it was in water – dogs (even wolves) seem to avoid chasing prey into water where they have less of an advantage and much more of a chance of getting injured themselves (think this must be evolutionary instinct). Knowing there was the potential for stumbling across deer on the walk I did have her on a lead though just in case !
Thanks for thing the time to read and comment.

Neat experience. Was your heart beating hard and you breath shallow when you watch your dog contemplating the situation?
Only because I believe it is still a hangable offence to hunt the Monarch’s deer and I had no idea how Mischa would react ! Thanks for visiting

Don’t think it saw or heard us Amar or maybe just felt safer in the water. Thanks for visiting and taking the time to comment.

You’re welcome!
Wonderful shots. The husky must have been fairly still for the deer not to bolt!

One time while returning home, my family and I saw a family of dear, perhaps 8 or more. We were all excited. I can see that Husky felt the same…just a thrilling post!
